Approach
Assalaamu Alaikum
This is a house
hold of 9. Mother, father, 6 girls & 1 boy. We pick a
topic a week to study.
It some times last 2 weeks. This is a Thursday
(Library day at our
home)
We Start with Fajr.
I wash dress, and wake everyone. While the prepare I put
the dinner on in
the slow cooker, then read a Qur'an until there ready. We
pray, My dh readers
a chapter of what ever book where reading. Now where on
Stories of the Prohets
by Ibn Kathir (This is our 2nd time reading this,
everyone loves it)
After My dh lays back
down before work (he has a hour drive). My 13 year old
lays back down She
is a night preson. She does not do well earily in the
morning.
My 16 year old is
up washing, dressing cleaning her room. putting on make up
(to study) < She
don't wear it outside> go figure, well what ever works. We
work on the Madina
program at this time together.
My 12, 10 &
7 year old are cleaning there room washing dressing and getting
ready for the day.
I'm fix breakfast, oatmeal, with raisians or fruit, OJ. I
put of the coffee
pot with tea in it, No one drinks coffee around here.
Everyone loves hebal
tea. I get put on a load of clothes, then they come
down to eat.
8:AM- My 16 year old
gets the baby ready, then she puts on a load. My 14
year old is up, gets
ready, make her bed, wash & dress the 4 year old they
both eat. Then she
puts on a load. It's 8:30 depending on the week, one of
the girls clean the
kitchen. Everyone gets there library cards, back packs,
pencils.... It is
time to go to the library. It's 9:25AM we stay there until
1:30. This week we
are finishing up, Philadeliphia's history. We will be
visiting NY and PA
over the next 2 weeks. We want to take a tour of some of
the places we read
about. Where returning books on NY and Pa all vidios.....
2:PM - Where home,
we pray, eat a snack, while 2 girls prepare lunch. I read
to everyone. After
lunch, someone else reads a book to every one. (the
oldest 2 girls have
to read no less then 2 chapters daily to everyone.The
younger ones have
to read 1 book or story that they chose.)
Other days
1:PM we make dhur-
Then we recite all of the suras we know together. Then
it's nape time. The
4 year old falls to sleep, during this time. The older
girls finish there
reports or projects during this time.
Other days 5 days
a week- I work 1 on 1 with math with my 12 year old at
7:AM - 7:45/ With
my 9 year old
8:AM - 8:45/ My 6
year old
9:AM - 9:30. They
start there jornal, and work on projects that they have to
complete Book reports,
9:30- 10:AM every
one does art with pappy drew it.
10:15 - 10:45 it
workout time. Tyebo - bick riding - jumping jacks-
basketball in the
back yard. Depend on how we feel that day, what we do.
11:AM- 12:PM I sit
close to my 13 year old while she does her math (I read
and fix rough drafts)
I have to be close
or she will have every reason she did not do her math. My
17 year old is fixing
lunch. All 3 of us are in the kitchen now. Sometimes
we switch jobs. all
of the other children are in the back yard, cleaning,
looking for bugs,
drawing a picture of the house or or flowers, until lunch.
After lunch, I clean
the table. My 7 year old reads a book to everyone, then
my 10 year old, then
the 12 year old. It about 1:PM we make dhur- Then we
recite all of the
suras we know together. Then it's nape time. The 4 year
old falls to sleep,
during this time. The older girls finish there reports
or projects during
this time. The 10 ( listens to a book on tape, He's
dyslixic), 7 &
12 year old reads in there rooms. Can't come out until 2:30
unless they want
to work on a project with me or one of there sisters.
After Asr someone
reads, a chapter or a book, After Magrib someone elses
read.
After dinner we clean
up, 2 people a day get to e-mail a family member and
each person gets
to play a CD game for 1 hour during the day. anytime before
1:PM.
Any work that is not
completed and checked by 6:30 has to get done. Family
game time is 7- 8:30
We play scrabble, word Scrabble, or sentence scrabble.
SMATH - it's like
scrabble but it's math problems. Time the game, where in
the world & where
in the US isCarman Sandiago, Jacks, Uno.... Everyones work
is done by that time.
No one want to miss out. While the games are being but
a way and we are
cleaning up, others prepare for Isha. We pray I read, we
recite all of our
suras again. The baby, 5 yr. old, 7 yr. old & the 10 yr.
old go to bed. I
go over what the my17 year old needs help on and we go over
what she needs to
pratice more the next day. She's off to her bed
by 9:30, she's an
earily person. I go over my 12 year old work for the next
day. She writes in
her jornal more, read a book. I don't go to sleep until
after 10:PM but I
just don't want to hear any load noise after 10:PM. I go
over what my 14 year
old needs to do also. She never goes to sleep before
11:PM. She reads,
reads, reads. She pratices her arabic at this time on her
own. By 10:PM it's
my time. i have 1 hour to my self with every one out of
my hair. My husband
is not home for 1 hour. I write in my black and white
book what we did
that day. I fix myself up to look refreshed. I read e-mail,
or write a letter.
and fall to sleep.
On Fridays we prepare
for Jummah. Starting Thursday evening. we start taking
ghusl and ironing
clothes. After Fajr we all read then everyone rest some
more we all get up
at 9:AM eat. I check emails after the 5 year old, the
baby and I are ready.
there sleep again on my bed. Every one is ready by
12:15 where out the
door to Jummah. Everyone has to write what Jummah was
about.
When we come home
some do math some don't. My 14 yr.,12yr old year old has
to. The 17 &
5 year old does it because they like to. My 10 year old son
tells me about it.
I write 3 sentences abt what he said he copies it. The 5
year old wants to
write, draw & color all day long.
That is a learning
day for us.
